The NFL is attempting to make the Pro Bowl more exciting, so they are coming up with different ways to spice the game up some.
They changed the selection format some, and now teams will be selected with a fantasy-style draft. They also changed defensive coverages, added a two-minute drill to each quarter and eliminated the use of kickoff returns.
Special teams player are visibly upset, but none more than Chicago Bears return man Devin Hester, who just might be the most accomplished special teams returner in NFL history.
Hester was very upset, and told the Chicago-Tribune that the NFL "can’t do that.”
“That was one of my goals for this season. I won’t make the Pro Bowl. They can’t do that.
“If you are taking the returner out of the Pro Bowl, you’re taking two positions out. That will suck for me. They are trying to change up the whole game of football and they’re messing with people’s jobs and lives.”
Hester, 30, is regarded as a future Hall-of-Famer to some for his dominance in the return game. He has racked up over 7,000 career return yards along with 17 total touchdowns in his seven-year career so far.
