An Atlanta are high school football player died Friday night after being injured during a scrimmage.
Creekside High School 11th grader, DeAntre Turman, died after being injured on the Banneker High School field Friday night, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Samantha Evans, spokeswoman for Fulton County schools, said the teen was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of this student,” Evans said. “This is truly a horrific way to begin a school year.”
Details of what happened were not released, but an autopsy is expected to be conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.
The Class of 2015 recruit had an offer from Kentucky, according to 24/7 Sports.
