Geno Atkins was patient, and finally got his money.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle has agreed to a five-year, $55 million deal with the team.
Atkins will earn $22 million in the first six months. The contract will pay Atkins $36 million in new money over the extension’s first three years.
Atkins was slated to earn $1.4 million under the last year of his rookie contract.
Atkins, 25, had 12.5 sacks last year with the Bengals. He has 23 total so far in his four-year NFL career.
