Josh Smith is now with the Detroit Pistons, and he plans to make highlight-reel plays in Motown to lighten up The Palace.
The Pistons have a strong frontcourt, which features Smith, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe as the team's starters. All three are one of the most athletic and the ones with the highest star power on the team, and they all will be creating a show when displaying their athleticism on the floor.
Expect to see a Lob City-like situation happening in Detroit, as many alley-oops will be coming from the trio of Smith, Drummond and Monroe. In fact, it may even be a contest, according to Smith.
“Me, Drummond and Monroe, it’s going to be a race to the rim to see who can get there fastest for lobs.”
The Pistons have an interesting situation entering the upcoming 2013-14 NBA season, having guys who like to chuck up shots like Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith, with dominant big man in Drummond and Monroe.
There are so many players that will be wanting the ball. Can head coach Maurice Cheeks make it all work? Hearing about racing the rim could end up being costly for the Pistons chemistry maybe. With all the talent they have on their roster, they should easily be a seventh or sixth seed in the Eastern Conference next season.
Then again, my analysis of Smith's quote could be too far looked into, but you can't help to wonder how Detroit will handle the situation of sharing the ball.
We'll see as the season approaches. It's only one month away!
