There’s no concrete evidence to corroborate the rumor, but NESN is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to sign Tim Tebow. The rumor first reported by Terez Owens has the Jaguars finally coming to their senses, and signing Tebow so he can continue his dream of being an NFL quarterback.
The Jags, who originally wanted no part of Tebow last spring, reportedly now understand that signing the hometown hero would bring a serious rise in ticket and merchandise sales. I’m not sure if this rumor is true or not, but it makes perfect sense for Jacksonville, and it should have been done two years ago.
The Jags are selling off players for low returns, and have plainly indicated that they are starting over. Part of starting over is being bad enough to secure the No. 1 or No. 2 overall pick for the second consecutive season in the NFL Draft. The Jaguars should trade Maurice Jones-Drew as well.
The move makes sense because Jacksonville faithfuls will never turn on Tebow regardless of how poorly or inaccurate his passes are. The Jaguars could be the first team to sell an enormous amount of tickets and merchandise all while getting worse as the season goes along.
The Jaguars should sign Tebow and keep him on the roster until the cash stops coming in. What do you thin of this possible move?
