Tony Romo may not be Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, or Drew Brees, but not many are either. What he is, without a doubt, a top-notch quarterback who played the game of his life on Sunday — but, of course, before throwing another late-game interception. Romo is who he is, and I think Jones is fine with that.
Jones, who may be Romo’s biggest fan and supporter at times, says he’ll remember that game for the way Romo played before that final pass. Jones made it very clear that he was “so proud of Romo” and the way he played.
“We’re sick. We’re really sick,” Jones said. “Not a lot to be said. These guys — are they going to get over it? Well, they’re not going to get over it any time soon, over the next few hours or days. We’ve got a lot of ‘what ifs’ in our mind.
"Certainly, we’re going to go over specific plays, but the ones we really could criticize, Peyton had a lot to do with that. But I am so proud of our team, I am so proud of Romo.”
Romo will be fine, and I have a feeling that Sunday's disappointment will lead to greater things for him later this season.
