Carmelo-Anthony-Andrea-Bargnani-2013
Does Carmelo Anthony finally have the sidekick he’s always wanted? The New York Knicks feel they may have finally gotten Melo the help he needs with the added addition of versatile big man Andrea Bargnani.

The Knicks have scrimmaged twice so far this season with the two on the wing together, and so far head coach Mike Woodson and company really like what they see.

“It’s looking good,” Woodson said, via ESPN. “I don’t know who’s going to start yet. But I like the makeup of Andrea and Melo on the floor at the same time with Tyson [Chandler]. In the scrimmage we worked that combination. It wasn’t bad.”

The two reportedly have spent the past seven practices getting acquainted with one another on the floor.

“Me and ‘B’ had a great week, just playing together, spacing it out on the court, me trying to learn from him, him trying to learn from me, trying to see what spots he likes out there on the basketball court,” Anthony said. “For the most part, he’s actually a smart player; he can play off people.”

Bargnani and Melo can work, but only if Andrea is able to make teams pay from long range. Both players can shoot, and should be able to bring interchangeable flexibility and range to the wing.
