But even with that in mind, Deng is still unhappy with Chicago with how they've been handling the contract talks. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Deng was unhappy with the Bulls not engaging seriously into contract discussions with him.
Woj writes:
As Rose returns to the Bulls after missing a full season, his most important teammate – Luol Deng – is privately disappointed over the franchise’s unwillingness to engage him in serious contract discussions. Deng could leave as a free agent this summer, could be traded before the February deadline – everything is so unsettled over his future. The Bulls are probably going to remain cautious with Deng this season, as they can go without him and start a new era at the small forward position if Jimmy Butler emerges into that role this season. Deng is in his prime, though, so Chicago can try trading him at the deadline this season, like Woj mentioned.
We'll see what the Bulls do next offseason, but it's all right now about how they do this year with Derrick Rose back.
