Dwight Howard: 'Rockets Signing Influenced By Stan Van Gundy'

You have to take everything Dwight Howard says with a huge grain of salt, so I’m sure some people's eyes will roll when they find out the superstar center actually listened to advice from Stan Van Gundy. Yes, that Stan Van Gundy: the coach who was fired by the Orlando Magic all because of Howard's notoriously-named "Dwightmare" in the 2011-12 season.

During the Houston Rockets 2013 media day gathering, Howard made an odd revelation when he said that Van Gundy suggested to him during the free agency process that he should sign with the Rockets.

Van Gundy coached Howard in Orlando from 2007-12. Oddly, both men say they are still friends. We'll see Howard fares with his new head coach, Kevin McHale.
