It wasn't easy for the Patriots, though. Not easy at all. The Pats held a 23-20 lead in the fourth quarter, but a Drew Brees touchdown pass put New Orleans up 24-23. On their next possession, they added on to their lead with a field goal to make it 27-23.
Needing a touchdown, the Pats failed on their ensuing possession, with Brady throwing an interception. It looked all over from there, but New England had one more chance with a little over a minute remaining. That's where Brady went Tom Terrific mode.
New England had several chances as they moved down the field. Brady found Julian Edelman twice for possible touchdowns, but the young wide receiver dropped both passes. On 4th down, Brady was able to hook up with Austin Collie, as the Pats were in the red zone. After that, Brady found Thompkins for the score.
New England now improves to 5-1 on the season. They are truly remarkable to watch, especially the offense missing key players like Wes Welker (signed with Broncos), Aaron Hernandez (police blotter) and Rob Gronkowski (injured), and Vince Wilfork (out for the season) on defense.
Great game.
