Today is NFL Sunday, with several big games happening. Can the Indianapolis Colts continue their winning streak coming off a bye week after handing the Denver Broncos their first loss two weeks ago?
Here are my picks for today's games ...
Record So Far This Season On Picks (includes Thursday night's game): 84-36
Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
The Chiefs have the best record in the NFL at 8-0, but the Bills are no team to scoff at. I think Buffalo has a great chance of upsetting, and looking at the Chiefs' last few wins, they barely made it by. And these teams they beat weren't anything special either. It's hard to pick this one, honestly. I think Buffalo can definitely upset. You know what, I'll just go with it. Bills with the upset. Thad Lewis saves the day. I'll probably regret this pick later.
Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys
The Vikings have no answer at quarterback. Josh Freeman was terrible last week, and after that struggle, they're going back to Christian Ponder at QB. The only way I see the Vikings winning is if Adrian Peterson has a huge game and carries Minny to victory. Otherwise, expect Tony Romo to light it up on the turf. Also expect to see a big game from Dez Bryant.
Tennessee Titans at St. Louis Rams
The Titans, at one point, were tied for the AFC South division lead. Since then, they have fell off in the past few weeks, but they can easily rebound and return to a .500 record 4-4 if they can beat the Rams. St. Louis has no QB, and Tennessee isn't that bad on the defensive side. Give me the Titans in this one.
New Orleans Saints at New York Jets
So the Jets got shat on by the Bengals last week, 49-9. Geno Smith has been on a streak of up-and-down games this season, so I expect him to be a lot better today. I have the Saints winning this one, but New York can easily upset. I can definitely see it happening. Give me the Saints, but it will be a close game.
San Digo Chargers at Washington Redskins
Phillip Rivers is having the best season of his NFL career, but the Chargers are still 4-3. Their defense has been hurting them this season, and I expect more of the same to happen this week. I see Robert Griffin III to get into more of his old self this week. I have the Redskins winning this one, improving to 3-5 on the season.
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers
Who would have thought the Falcons would be at 2-5 and the Panthers at 4-3 at this point in the season? Nothing has been good for Atlanta, but I think they can get a victory today. It won't be easy, though. Expect both Cam Netwon and Matt Ryan to have a big game. I think it will be a close one, and Atlanta finishes off with the upset.
Philadelphia Eagles at Oakland Raiders
This is an interesting one. Had a healthy Michael Vick would have been playing today, I'd give the Eagles the win. But I think Nick Foles will struggle. I think Terrelle Pryor will have a big game as he leads the Raiders to victory, improving to 4-4 on the season, tied with the Chargers for third place in the AFC West division.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks
There is absolutely no hope for the 0-7 Buccaneers this season. There was the MRSA infection outbreak, the Josh Freeman saga and the fact that they have an evil head coach in Greg Schiano. The only way I see the Bucs winning is if the Seahawks do absolutely terrible and Darrelle Revis has a pick-6 to lead Tampa Bay to a 10-6 victory or something like that. Otherwise, expect Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch to plow over the Bucs today. I think Richard Sherman gets a pick-6 in this one, too.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
The Browns were on a roll at one point in the season with Brian Hoyer behind center. But since he's out for the season, Cleveland is now back to their old ways. Expect that to continue as they lose to the Ravens today. Joe Flacco will have a good game.
Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots
I'm actually still surprised that the Patriots are 6-2 right now. Also, the Steelers are 2-5. Yikes. However, I think the Steelers will upset! Yes, that's right, Pittsburgh will upset New England in Foxborough! Imagine that. I think Tom Brady will struggle in this one. God, I hope I'm right on this one.
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
Fresh off a win versus the Broncos, the Colts are already ranked as the top team in the NFL for many websites and publications. Expect them to win again tonight in an easy game versus the Texans. Case Keenum will struggle, and I see him getting sacked TWICE by Robert Mathis, who is making a great case for himself as the Defensive Player of the Year. Mathis is already on pace to break the sack record. Also, I think Trent Richardson will finally have a big game in a Colts uniform tonight. I think he gets at least 80 rushing yards and a touchdown or two.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Jay Cutler is still out, and the Bears are facing one of the most high-powered passing offenses in the league that is led by Aaron Rodgers. I don't see much hope for the Bears in this one, so I think it's a blowout win for the Packers on Monday night. I also think Eddie Lacy gets a good game on the ground as well.
