Davidson, 22, played in 31 games last year for Arizona but put up impressive numbers in Triple-A ball. He was named the MVP of the Futures Game in New York last season.

Reed had a stellar season for Chicago last year, picking up 40 saves, fifth-most in the American League. The 24-year-old closer recorded 72 strikeouts in 68 appearances.

This is the second trade in this past week in which Chicago has traded away pitching to improve the team’s offense.
