The New England Patriots put linebacker Brandon Spikes on IR early this week, and news is now coming out that the reason for it is not because of injury.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Patriots placed Spikes on IR after he was late to the team's bye week practice on Friday, Jan. 3. However, it seemed that he had a valid reason for being late, as his car was apparently stuck in the snow:

However, this isn't the first time Spikes has been in trouble as head coach Bill Belichick has fined him multiple times.
Spikes reportedly decided to mutually agree on the IR designation, rather than being cut right away from the Pats. He will become a free agent this offseason.
Meanwhile, the Pats defense looks to roll without him tonight against Andrew Luck's red-hot Indianapolis Colts offense.
