chris paul shoulder injury 2014Very tough news for Los Angeles Clippers fans.

Star point guard Chris Paul suffered a separated shoulder injury in Friday night's win over the Dallas Mavericks. It first appeared to be a strain on Paul's shooting arm, but head coach Doc Rivers later confirmed a separated shoulder.

Paul should be out for the next 3-5 weeks, which will definitely impact where the Clippers will stand in the Western Conference.

"He's down," Rivers said. "He's out at least three to five weeks and maybe more. We don't know that [yet]. We know it's a separated shoulder. We don't know what grade it is, yet. We'll probably send him home, and he'll get evaluated in L.A., and just hope that's he's going to be O.K."

Paul was averaging 19.6 points and a league-leading 11.2 assists per game.

Darren Collison filled in for Paul while he was out, having 20 points and four dimes in the win over the Mavs. Collison was signed in the offseason to be the backup for CP3. Hopefully for the Clips, he can do a serviceable job as the starter.
