Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was arguably Peyton Manning's top receiving target during the 2013 NFL season. Thomas played a huge role for Denver during the AFC Championship game, making big catches and touchdowns in a win over the New England Patriots.
Thomas will now face a tougher task next Sunday in Super Bowl XLVIII against the Seattle Seahawks, as he's likely going to be guarded by cornerback Richard Sherman, who is arguably the best defensive back in the game.
Both possess a similar size, with Thomas being 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds while Sherman is 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. Both are very physical for their position and it could end up becoming a matchup for the ages.
Thomas hopes so, as he wants Sherman to cover him during the game.
“He’s a great player. I’d love to have that matchup and show what kind of player I am. I don’t know if we’ll match up, but like I said, he’s a great player,” Thomas
told the Broncos website.
The Super Bowl is set to be an epic one, with the No. 1 team facing another No. 1 team along with the No. 1 offense versus the No. 1 defense.
“They’ve got a great defense and we’ve got a great offense,” Thomas said. “This is what you play for.”
