The Boston Celtics star point guard hinted towards a return when he posted this to Twitter last night:
29,233,380 secs
— Rajon Rondo (@RajonRondo) January 14, 2014
The 29,233,280 seconds is the timeframe from when he had surgery on his torn ACL in Feb. 2013 leading up to Friday's game versus the Lakers. In total, it is 338 days.
Rondo will undergo "vigorous" workouts this week to see if his knee is OK, according to head coach Brad Stevens. Stevens says he wouldn't be surprised if Rondo ends up playing on Friday.
"We've got a day planned, a pretty strenuous day for him, tomorrow. And then we'll go from there.
"I would think that there's a chance that he will be back for Friday."
Rondo's ACL was torn back on Jan. 25, 2013, basically ending the Celtics' chances of competing for another NBA championship with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett still there. Boston did manage to win 39 games and make the playoffs that year, but only to fall to the New York Knicks in the first round.
Boston is currently 13-26 without Rondo. They hope to rebound once he returns.
