Tom Brady will be facing the Indianapolis Colts once again, this time with Peyton Manning not being the opposing quarterback.
The New England Patriots will face off against the red-hot Colts next week to play for the 2014 AFC Championship Game. The Colts are coming in hot after a come-from-behind victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, led by the heroics of second-year quarterback Andrew Luck.
However, Brady won't be worried about Luck when game time approaches. Brady, as he should be, is worried a lot more about what the Colts defense is going to bring when they come to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
“Truthfully, I’m not worried about the opposing quarterback,” Brady said, via the Sporting News. “I’m thinking about the defense and what I need to do to play against them.
“I didn’t watch one snap of Indy’s offense, nor will I this week. I’ll be focused on the defense and what we need to do to score points, because that’s what my job is.”
And that is exactly what Brady should be focusing on. The veteran quarterback has had a tough time against Indy's pass-rush, with NFL's leading sack-leader Robert Mathis giving him the most havoc. Mathis has had five sacks on Brady in the past seven games against the Pats.
“He kind of wreaks a lot of havoc,” Brady said. “We’ve got to be able to figure out how to slow him down and then we’ve got to be really balanced on offense like we’ve been. We’ve got to run it, and when we throw, we’ve got to throw it good.”
Next week is gonna be a fun game to watch. How will Luck, a young, clutch QB, fare against Brady, who is a master of the clutch performances?
