Bynum was then waived today by Chicago, who were in no need of his services. With Bynum now a free agent, there has to be at least a few teams interested in him. He's only 26 years old and he had an All-Star season only two years ago in his last full season played.
Several teams could use his services. Here are some that could definitely work for him.
Atlanta Hawks
At 18-17 and hanging onto the third seed of the Eastern Conference, the Hawks could use a quick rental option in Bynum to help out the squad.
With guys like Gustavo Ayon, Elton Brand and Pero Antic is your other center options, you have no other choice to take the risk. It may very well be worth it down the road.
Los Angeles Clippers
Bynum could fit well with a championship contender in the Clips, and it could create a solid center duo with DeAndre Jordan.
New Orleans Pelicans
Anthony Davis was out for a while, and now Ryan Anderson will be out indefinitely. New Orleans, like Atlanta, would have no other choice to bring in Bynum if they continue to roll with guys like Alexis Ajinca and Greg Stiemsma.
New York Knicks
New York looked awful when Chandler went out with injury, and having Bynum during that time would have helped them get out of the dark hole they dug themselves into earlier in the season.
Other Teams That Could Work Out
Joe Kaiser of ESPN.com suggests these teams to be dark horses in the Andrew Bynum race:
- Charlotte Bobcats
- Golden State Warriors
- Dallas Mavericks
- Brooklyn Nets
