Clockgate? During today's game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Iowa State Cyclones in the Round of 32 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, some true March Madness kicked in when confusion of what time there was on the clock occurred towards the very ending of the game.
ISU's DeAndre Kane hit a crucial layup to put the Cyclones up, 85-83, with 1.6 seconds remaining in the game. UNC inbounds the ball and made it up to the halfcourt, where the clock finally started working. A delay on the clock and timeout by head coach Roy Williams led to immediate confusion.
The refs reviewed the play and deemed the game over, meaning the Cyclones now advance to the Sweet 16 where they will face UConn.
Talk about a crazy ending. Gotta blame the clock operator, though. He had one job.
UNC fans are salty.
