Just as the minimum wage goes up, so do the prices for Jordan shoes. Per several reports, the retro models of the Air Jordans are expected to receive a price increase of nearly $20 come summer 2014 and/or the holiday season of 2014.
According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the holiday 2014 releases (most notably whatever Air Jordan 11 colorway releases that time) will receive a price of $190. However, other sources are saying differently.
Word is that the price increase begins in the summer, as Jordan Brand puts a $185 tab on the retro models. Then during the holidays, the Jordan 11 that will release will be $200. In the past several years, they were either $175 or $185.
Jordan prices have been increasing by the year. In 2014, the price increase went from $160 to $170. The $170 price-point has only been here for only a couple of months and seeing it change so quickly is actually kind of a surprise.
We'll see what Jordan Brand has up their sleeves as the summer and the holidays approach.
One thing's for sure, though: if this trend continues, expect retro models to get that $250 price tag at some point in the future like what the Nike Foamposites currently have.
