The San Francisco 49ers are moving on from the Donte Whitner era, who signed with the Cleveland Browns, as they have acquired Indianapolis Colts free agent safety Antoine Bethea. According to the Sacramento Bee, Bethea has signed a four-year, $26 million deal with the Niners.
Bethea was one of the hearts and souls of the Colts defense for nearly the past decade, posting numerous 90- and 100-tackle seasons. The nine-year veteran had 110 last year with the Colts.
Bethea, 30, has 806 tackles and 14 interceptions in his career and will be a solid replacement for Whitner on the 49ers.
