Nick Foles had one heck of a campaign in the 2013 NFL season, but things might be a bit different for him in 2014 now that the Philadelphia Eagles are without top wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
Jackson was released by the franchise, of course, and ended up signing with the NFC East rival Washington Redskins. With this, it will create for two very interesting match-ups next season when the Eagles and the 'Skins face off.
Foles was asked about the DeSean Jackson situation, saying he wasn't expecting for his No. 1 receiver to get cut.
“You know, it’s surprising,” Foles told CSNPhilly.com. “But at the same time, you learn that it’s a business. It’s a tough business, at times. We develop a lot of friendships on a team and I’ve had many of my close teammates let go. It’s very tough, but at the same time, you know it’s part of the game, part of the business.”
Much talk was said about Jackson being a cancer to the locker room. Reports even came out of players ratting D-Jax out and saying that he would curse out head coach Chip Kelly. However, Foles says he never saw any of that occur from Jackson.
“He was a great teammate to me,” Foles said. “We had a great relationship on and off the field. Everybody has other things going on, but to me personally, I really enjoyed playing with him and I’m excited that he landed on his feet. He’s a heck of a player."
Now that heck of a player is going to be catching passes from Robert Griffin III in a few months.
