Gasol confirmed this news on Twitter Sunday:
With only a few games left in the regular season and the Lakers out of the playoff contention, there's really no point for Gasol to play these final games even if he is healthy now.
Gasol really has nothing else to prove with a couple of games remaining. He knows he isn't staying in Los Angeles this summer and it's very unlikely he will be able to get the $17 million salary he did with the purple-and-gold.
Gasol will likely command around a $10 million salary on the NBA Free Agency market this summer. He's definitely going to attract a lot of teams in the summer as he was arguably the best player on the roster this year.
For Gasol right now, though, he gets to chill and lay back and have a nice summer ... until July.
