The Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery, getting the No. 1 overall pick for the second straight year as well as the third time in four years. Cleveland had a 1.7 percent chance to win it this year, and were able to beat out the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks for the top spot.
The Sixers and Bucks both had the worst records in the league this season, but finished with the No. 3 and 2 overall picks, respectively. For the Cavs, they now get the chance to actually find a replacement for LeBron James at small forward since he left. A viable option could be Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker.
However, could the No. 1 pick increase the chances of Cleveland getting LeBron to turn? Who knows, but the NBA fans all over on social media are thinking it with their famous "NBA is rigged" conspiracy. If that were to happen, Cleveland could go ahead and take a gamble drafting Joel Embiid.
With that, Cleveland could enter next season with a starting lineup featuring Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, LeBron James, Tristan Thompson and Joel Embiid. Or, of course, draft Wiggins and make him play shooting guard while having Waiters come off the bench. Or wait...have LeBron play power forward!
The possibilities are endless and—alright, I should stop. I think I'm going completely insane and out of my mind now.
Anyways, congrats to Cleveland. Let's just hope they don't draft another Anthony Bennett.
