Donald Sterling made himself look more like an idiot when his exclusive interview with CNN aired on Monday. Sterling made comments about Magic Johnson, and though he did apologize, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers doesn't care much for it.
Magic's name was involved in the audio recordings of Sterling's racist comments with girlfriend V. Stiviano. Sterling made controversial comments about Johnson in the CNN interview, saying the Lakers legend didn't help black people and that people shouldn't praise him because he had sex with a bunch of women and got HIV.
"I know who Magic is. I'll stand by Magic every day of the year because I've known him for a long time," Rivers said about the comments, per USA Today. "Having said that, I don't know what's going on out there. I tried not to get involved in that part of it right now. Whatever it is, that doesn't sound like much of an apology to me."
It definitely wasn't.
Rivers, however, is not focused on the Sterling matter as much anymore as the Clips are focused on reaching the Western Conference Finals. They are currently tied in their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder at two games apiece.
"I just don't need the clutter right now," he said. "I've got the basketball operations, I've got the team, we're in the middle of the playoffs. So for right now, what I've decided to do is to tune out, if you want to say. ... I'm sure at some point I will sit down and listen and hear (Sterling's comments)."
