San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher Aldon Smith is feeling good, and says he's been in the best shape since coming into camp. Smith also adds that he's been sober since September.
"I've been able to maintain, and it's going good," Smith said. "I'm in the best shape I've been in coming into a camp, and my mind is probably in the best spot it's been in, so I'm feeling great."
Smith has dealt with several off-the-field issues in relation to alcohol, as he was arrested and charged for drunken driving twice in January 2012 and September 2013.
Smith has yet to find out what discipline he will receive from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, but he is scheduled to meet with him soon. We'll see how big the suspension is if Smith receives one.
Smith, 24, had 8.5 sacks in 11 games played last season. He had 19.5 and 14 respectively the two seasons prior. He will be entering his fourth season in the NFL.
