Many expected coming into New York, new Jets quarterback Michael Vick was going to deal with a herd of comments in regards to his dogfighting ring past.
Vick was asked about that in an interview
with the Wall Street Journal. Vick understands why it happens and he likely sees it everyday, so it doesn't bother him anymore.
In regards to the online petition made to have Vick banned from NFL training camp with Jets, Vick thought it was "irrelevant" and that he's put all that past stuff behind him.
"I thought it was irrelevant for the time being, as of right now," he said. "I'm eight years removed from that, from that whole situation. I did everything to make amends and make it right, and I can't go out and try to please the world, make everybody root for me."
Vick says he wasn't surprised by the petition, nor did it bother him.
"No, not at all," he said.
"Why don't it surprise me or bother me? Because it don't. I have more things to focus on. I have kids. I have a family. I have a lot of kids out there in the world I try to be an example to. That's not sending the right message. We've got to promote positivity, and that's what it's all about."
WSJ also asked the veteran quarterback on if he had any pets, since people were wondering.
"That's none of their business."
