Landon Donovan used to be the captain of the U.S. soccer squad, but watched his team perform amazingly well in this year's World Cup without him. This year's USA squad truly defied all odds and the country was behind their back.
Donovan went on "The Dan Patrick Show" to discuss USA's run following their loss to Belgium, saying that he's never seen the country come together like this ... aside from the September 11 attack in 2001.

“I think — you see more of those comments probably than I do — but I think it’s kind of sad. I think you’re right. I think people are threatened by it,” he said. “I’m not sure why, I think they need to look at themselves a little more closely and realize that it’s good for everybody when our country comes together like this.
“I’ve never seen our country come together like that — aside from after 9/11,” he added. “You don’t see that. So seeing our whole country together and bonded and wanting our team to do well is incredible.”
