The Chicago Bulls are looking to cash out in this year's NBA free agency as they look to land star small forward Carmelo Anthony. The Bulls were even able to convince Derrick Rose to help in the recruiting process, despite his comments in the recent past.
In fact, Rose did more than what was expected. Chicago invited Carmelo to the Windy City, where they even went to United Center. There, Melo could see the photos the team made for him as well as other things.
The most interesting part in Melo's meeting at United Center was that D-Rose worked out for the small forward to prove that he's healthy, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders. The workout proved that Rose is able to compete at a high level next season.
The Bulls also pitched to Melo about joining a strong core that features Rose, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson along with Tom Thibodeau as the head coach. The Bulls pitched on being a legit championship contender by placing Melo in that core as well as making it by in a weak Eastern Conference.
Later that day, the Bulls ended up having dinner with Melo. Kennedy writes that Anthony, Noah, Gibson, Thibodeau, Jerry Reinsdorf, Gar Forman and Scottie Pippen were there in downtown Chicago.
All in all, the Bulls reportedly now feel very confident after their meeting. They definitely believe they can land one of the most prized players in this year's free agency class.
Anthony will now be flying to Texas as he listens to the pitches from both the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. He will finish things out in Los Angeles on Thursday as he gets a pitch from the Lakers franchise.
