Jason Terry was traded in February of this past NBA season from the Brooklyn Nets to the Sacramento Kings. He never suited up for Sactown as he spent the remainder of the season rehabilitating his knee. In fact, he was rehabbing in Dallas.
Terry will likely have to suit up for the Kings next season, but it appears he already wants out. Terry has apparently long been hoping for a return to the Mavericks.
“
I won’t rule out returning back to Dallas,” the 36-year-old said. “It’s my home and my heart,” Terry said. “I bleed blue. I’m a Maverick."
Terry's on the final year of his contract where he will earn just under $6 million. The 15-year veteran is looking to find a way out, and it appears he would be fine accepting a buyout. According to the Sacramento Bee though, the Kings have no desires to do that right now.
Terry, however, is clearly not interested in playing with the Kings, who are not exactly destined to become a playoff squad next season.
“They’re in transition right now. For me, at this point in my career, I want championships," Terry said.
Terry won a ring in Dallas, and the Mavs have loaded up big this offseason where they can go for another 2011-like run. I'm sure Terry would love to be a part of that.
We'll see if Sacramneto will end up granting Terry's wish sometime this year.
