The Los Angeles Lakers were expected to be serious title contenders two years ago when they got both Steve Nash and Dwight Howard to pair with Kobe Bryant. Obviously, these last two NBA seasons ended up becoming train-wrecks for the purple-and-gold.
Nash, now 40 years old, is approaching the end. He's in the final year of his deal with LA, and many are saying he's just playing this year for the money. The speculation is that this will in fact be his final season in the league.
Nash confirmed that speculation,
according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
“I think this is my last season,” he said. "But I still love to play, practice and work on my game. I’m going to spend hopefully many many years living this life without basketball. It’ll be nice to play one more year."
Nash has dealt with injuries and has struggled a bit in his time with the Lakers. He only averaged about seven points and six assists per game last season.
With Jeremy Lin in, expect him to start at point guard and for Nash to come off the bench.
