Veteran shooting guard Jason Terry made some bold comments not too long ago when he kind of sneak-dissed the Sacramento Kings as well as saying he wants to go back to the Dallas Mavericks (story here). It appears the Kings will now grant his wishes.
From Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee:
The Kings still are looking to gain roster flexibility by trading one or more of their power forwards and possibly dealing guard Jason Terry, who has said he would prefer not to play in Sacramento. The Kings say they have no plans to buy out Terry, who is due $5.45 million this season.
The Kings will have 15 players under contract once they sign forward Omri Cassipi to a one-year, veteran minimum deal. Once his deal is finalized, they'll be a little over $850,000 over the luxury tax line.
To clear some of that, they could cut Quincy Acy. The Kings also can make other trades, too. According to ESPN, they are shopping forwards Derrick Williams, Travis Outlaw and Jason Thompson. However, they have found no takers for any of the three yet.
The Kings also have been linked to the Detroit Pistons in trying to acquire Josh Smith, but nothing has escalated since news broke of their interest in him. In fact, Detroit is now planning to keep him.
We'll just have to see what Sactown's plans are regarding their roster as the offseason progresses.
