Ever since LeBron James' inspirational "I'm Coming Home" letter to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, others have been doing the same now. Up next is former NBA forward Brian Scalabrine.
Scalabrine played with the Boston Celtics from 2005-10, winning a championship with the team as a benchwarmer. The man known as the "White Mamba" later went on to play for the Chicago Bulls and then was an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors last season.
Now Scal is coming home, basically using LeBron's letter with his own Scalabrine spin on it. He'll be returning to the Celtics, but as a broadcaster (though it would be cool if he returned as a player).
It's pretty marvelous ... actually, let's just call it a masterpiece.
I'm doing this essay because I want an opportunity to explain myself uninterrupted...and gather some great press based on another recent NBA signing...in almost the exact same way. ...
I may have a press conference, and I am definitely having a party. And all of Boston will be invited. And when we are done, we will still have a few months before we have to get to work. ...
I'm not promising a championship. I know how hard that is to deliver. We’re not ready right now. No way. Of course, I want to win next year, but I'm realistic. I’m only a broadcaster - what could I really do? ...
I'm ready to accept the Scallenge. Boston, I'm coming home.
Just brilliant.
