It's been a while since we have heard from Ray Allen. Ever since LeBron James re-joined the Cleveland Cavaliers, the belief was that Allen would follow him there. Nothing has happened as of yet, though.
According to ESPN, the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs have joined the race to pursue the veteran shooting guard's services, being a rival to Cleveland.
This definitely puts more pressure on the Cavs to try and lure the 19-year pro in Allen from the Miami Heat or keeping him from retiring.
The Clippers definitely seem like a viable option. Adding Allen gives a ton more help to bench. In addition, Allen has a strong connection to Clips head coach Doc Rivers, as both go way back to their time with the Boston Celtics.
The Spurs also would make sense since they're still basically the team to beat in the NBA. Allen can easily help the Spurs repeat as champions as well as getting a third ring of his own for his career.
Allen, however, isn't going to make a decision for a while.
"It's August and I don't want to rush to judgment," he said. "I want to get to September and see how I really feel."
My bet is that he still goes to Cleveland, but we'll see what happens.
