LeBron James turned his 2014 decision into a touching story when he wrote in an essay of his reason to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. About a few days later, Carmelo Anthony followed suit in his decision to stay home with the New York Knicks.
Carmelo was asked about his free agency decision recently and if he was influenced by LeBron in any way. For Melo, though, he believes that it is the other way around.
“No,” Carmelo said. “Honestly, I think it was the other way around. I think he saw when I came back home to New York [in 2011] and saw the response and saw how at peace I was when I came back home…I’m pretty sure he looked at that moment and saw that that was a very special moment, and he had the opportunity to go back home himself and regain that love.”
It make sense why Melo would think that, but I don't think LBJ was influenced by him in any sort of way.
