Derek Carr September 2014

It looks like we may finally have a rookie quarterback pegged as a starter for an NFL team this season. The Oakland Raiders made the move on Monday to announce Derek Carr as the starting QB over veteran Matt Schaub, according to ESPN.

Carr has played pretty well throughout the preseason, which gives the Raiders a legit reason to start him over Schaub. However, head coach Dennis Allen waited until Monday to see how Schaub felt before naming Carr the starter.

Schaub, who spent the past seven seasons as a starter on the Houston Texans, has struggled since last year and hasn't been the same. He had shown the same struggles this preseason with Oakland when it comes to throwing interceptions.

We'll see how Carr, the second-rounder out of Fresno State, can perform when Oakland faces the New York Jets on the road this Sunday.
