Fantasy football owners should be aware of what's to come if they have Branden Oliver in their lineups, because his days as the San Diego Chargers feature back are slowly coming to an end.
According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is nearing a return and could come back by next week for the team's Week 9 matchup with the Miami Dolphins. Mathews
suffered a MCL sprain after the team's win over the Seattle Seahawks back in September.
Per Gehlken, Mathews worked out Thursday at Sports Authority Field in Denver before the Chargers' 35-21 loss to the Broncos. Mathews did pretty well in the high-altitude conditions, meaning he was pretty much ready to go and that his knee was good.
It is possible,
according to ESPN, that San Diego could leave Mathews out for next week's game versus Miami. San Diego has a Week 10 bye and could bring Mathews back after that to insure extra rest and safety.
We'll have to see what happens as this week goes on.
