It's fun to watch whenever Peyton Manning faces the New England Patriots, whether he is on the Indianapolis Colts or New England Patriots.
Not only is it a comparison of how Manning and Tom Brady do against each other team's defenses, but how Manning's mind go against the mind of Bill Belichick. Can Belichick's defense top Manning's offensive mind, or will No. 18 become the victor?
We'll get to see in Round 16 of Manning vs Brady (or Belichick) on November 2, when the Broncos head to Foxborough again to face the Patriots on the road.
Belichick spoke of Manning on Tuesday, saying that the five-time NFL MVP "has no weakness."
“
He’s good because he does everything,” he said. “But, really, I don’t think there are any bad points in his game.
“He’s very smart. He has a great understanding of concepts, timing, game management, clock management, situation football, third down, red area, great utilization of the field from sideline to sideline, attacking the deep part of the field, accurate, great decision-maker, quick release, has very few negative plays.”
Manning has been able to make it work with whatever weapons he's had. Since joining Denver, he's turned guys like Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Julius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders into Pro Bowl-caliber players that they have never been before.
“It doesn’t really matter who is out there with him,” Belichick said. “Whoever it is, he finds a way to utilize him. He has had different players at different positions in different combinations, and guys have been out and other guys have been in. But no matter who it is out there, he does a good job of finding ways to utilize those skills of the group that is out there relative to the defensive matchup.
“It seems like he causes every defense a problem for the last 15 years or however long it has been."
This week's matchup between both teams will be heavily hyped. Last year, Denver had a 24-0 lead at halftime until the Patriots came roaring back in the second half to win in overtime. However, they would meet again in the AFC Championship, where Denver dominated.
Both teams are much different than where they were at last year, though, so it'll be interesting to see how both fare this Sunday.
