Johnny Manziel November 2014

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel made the cover for the latest issue of Golf Digest. In the issue, he discusses how he once was snubbed by the great Tiger Woods for an autograph.

During a round of golf in Orlando, Florida when Manziel was about nine or 10 years old, he saw Woods not too far away from him. Sadly, he was unable to attain the illustrious, prized signature of the star golfer.

“We saw Tiger on the 16th hole and asked for his autograph, and he said to catch him right after the round,” Manziel said. “I was sitting about 100 yards from the 18th green, and he drove by in a cart and was pulling his hat really, really low. I remember him saying, ‘No autographs today.’”

Manziel, who now deals with the superstardom on his own, says he understands why Woods had to reject him way back then.

“I’m sure there are stories about me,” Manziel said. “Maybe not in the same fashion, but maybe someone has asked, ‘Hey can I take a picture with you?’ And I say, ‘Sure, I’m gonna use the restroom, and I’ll be right back.’ Then, something comes up.”

Manziel says it'll be a funny story whenever he meets Tiger.

“If I ever run into Tiger at Nike or somewhere, it’ll be a funny story,” Manziel said.

Don't worry, Johnny, we're all in the same boat. I remember attending the 2007 U.S. Open, but was unable to get Tiger's autograph after his round. There was a huge line of young kids about 10 years old like myself, but he had to reject us all nicely.

Oh well.
