I will say this time and time again, but sneakers should never be this important. Not when people's lives are at stake. It's just wrong and stupid.
According to Complex, a 19-year-old was sentenced to 44 years in prison after he murdered a student for a pair of Air Jordan sneakers:
According to WJLA, 19-year-old Willie Daquan Lee fatally shot Kahron M. Lee, a 20-year-old student at Virginia Union University, on February 23. There is no relation between the two.
Lee was shot in the back by the teen as he was trying to escape after Willie Lee demanded he give up his sneakers. The incident occurred late at night when Kahron Lee was returning to his apartment.
Willie Lee was sentenced last Friday after pleading guilty this past summer to first-degree murder, robbery, and two felony firearms counts.
Sad stuff for the family of Kahron Lee.
