Kendrick Perkins LeBron James

Kendrick Perkins had many options when he was on waivers recently, and he did what any veteran NBA player probably would do: join whatever team LeBron James is on.

Perkins had an option between playing for Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers and LeBron's Cleveland Cavaliers, but ultimately decided on joining #TheLand.

“Doc? The king?” Perkins said, via Ohio.com. “Uh, I choose the king.”

Perkins officially signed with the team today, and is looking to chase a championship with Cleveland. Perkins won one with the Boston Celtics in 2008, and fell short in 2011 with the Oklahoma City Thunder ... at the hands of LeBron's Miami Heat squad.

“That team is on a mission,” Perkins said. “You can tell they’re playing agenda-free basketball, trying to get the win and get better.

“I don’t have no agenda. I’m honest with myself. I know I probably won’t ever make an All-Star game, so the only thing on my mind is trying to win a championship.”

Perkins was in the same draft class as James, and had been looking to play with LeBron for quite some time.

“He just said, ‘Let’s make this happen. Been a long time coming.’ He’s right,” he said. “I’ve been wanting to be on the same team with him for awhile. So I feel like everything happens for a reason at the right time.”

We'll see how Perkins turns out with Cleveland this season. He'll be an effective rim protector and big man that the team will need alongside with Timofey Mozgov.
