Zack Greinke had a solid season with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, having 17 wins. Only Clayton Kershaw, of course, had more than him in the league that season.
Greinke looks to do the same in 2015 with LA, but it could wind up being his final season with the team.
From the Los Angeles Daily News:
Greinke can opt out of his original contract with the Dodgers after this season and become a free agent... Greinke's six-year, $147 million contract was a record for a right-handed pitcher at the time, but Max Scherzer signed a jaw-dropping seven-year, $210 million contract with the Washington Nationals two weeks ago. Another typical season could allow Greinke to make nearly as much money as Scherzer, if not more.
Another Greinke could leave is that he doesn't like the direction the Dodgers are headed towards, according to the Los Angeles Times:
The Dodgers won 94 games last year, repeating as champion of the National League West. They could open the season with a new second baseman, shortstop, catcher and center fielder, with newcomers in 40 percent of the starting rotation and 50 percent of the bullpen. Are they better? Zack Greinke isn't buying it, at least not yet.
Greinke voiced dissatisfaction himself.
"In the playoffs last year, I thought our team was the best team in baseball," he said Saturday at the Dodgers' Fan Fest. "Obviously, we didn't prove it. But I thought we were the best team in baseball. So, to say we're better than that, I don’t know if you could say that."
We'll see where Greinke winds up after next season.
