Fred Smoot had a lot of interesting things to say during Reddit AMA on Monday. We already covered one of them here, but here's another.
Smoot discussed about gay players in the NFL. It's been a hot topic ever since Michael Sam publicly came out before the draft last year. Many wondered if him being gay had a lot to do with him being out of a job right now in the league.
Smoot says he's had "several" gay teammates, and that "everybody knew." They also didn't care.
Q: Did you encounter any gay players?
A: yes. several.
Q: At the professional level? Was it a don’t ask don’t tell kind of thing, or did everybody on the team generally know?
A: everyone knew
Q: We’re they treated noticeably different? Or did nobody really care?
A: no one cares
