The New York Knicks are desperate for players in this upcoming NBA Free Agency period. Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony and company will do what they can to build the Knicks into a playoff-contender right away.

They've already been linked to Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo, but sources say they are in the run for the services of Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan as well.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, the Knicks' selling point to Jordan is that he can be the No. 2 scoring option behind Melo:

New York's pitch to Jordan will be that he would be the team's second option behind Anthony, as opposed to the third option he currently is with the Clippers behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Sources say that is an important distinction to Jordan.

The Knicks will also emphasize that in the Eastern Conference, the road to becoming an All-Star and a playoff team is much less clogged than in the West.

That's pretty laughable to be honest, considering Jordan is pretty limited with his offensive capabilities. Plus, his free throw shooting doesn't really help either. However, the Knicks should work what they have, and he could play a Tyson Chandler-type role for the team.
