Here’s hoping he finds success in whatever he chooses to do with his life from here on out.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back C.J. Wilson will reportedly “step away” from the NFL after losing two fingers during a July 4th fireworks accident.
“On behalf of C.J. Wilson, he has decided to step away from the NFL at this time to focus on his immediate needs in recovery which are the foundation of his long-term health,” his agents’ statement reads. “When CJ is fully healed and able to return to the game, he will then continue his career at that time.”
In one of the most coincidental moments in sports accident history, Wilson and the New York Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul both suffered severe injuries on the same night.
The 25-year-old Wilson played in two games for Tampa Bay last season and recorded four tackles.
