Even after releasing Ryan Williams, the Dallas Cowboys appear content with their running back situation as they open up training camp.
The Star Telegram is reporting that Dallas has no interest in Ray Rice or Chris Johnson.
The Cowboys are not planning to sign a veteran running back such as Ray Rice or Chris Johnson, instead willing to wait and see how the internal guys perform, according to a source.
Rice, a three-time Pro Bowl back, is not of interest as the team doesn’t want to take on another player with a domestic violence issue as they already have Greg Hardy on the roster.
Johnson, another three-time Pro Bowler, also doesn’t seem to be the right fit at this point. The Cowboys want a more physical runner than Johnson, who has lost some of his speed.
That feeling could change, especially if Darren McFadden or Joseph Randle get banged up early on.
