His comments get more outlandish by the day, yet we constantly put a microphone and cameras in Donald Trumps face.
During a discussion with Fortune Magazine about the game of golf, Trump said that he doesn’t like the idea of trying to make the sport more accessible to young people.
Trump somehow believes that golf “should be an aspirational game” played only by those who can afford to do it.
“I think I’m in the minority,” he told Fortune, “but I feel differently about golf. I feel golf should be an aspirational game, something people aspire to. People should come to golf, golf shouldn’t come to them.”
Trump then insulted many by insinuating that 18 holes of golf should only be permitted for the privileged or “elite" ... aka rich people.
“It may be elitist, and perhaps that’s what golf needs,” he said. “Let golf be elitist. When I say ‘aspire,’ that’s a positive word. Let people work hard and aspire to some day be able to play golf. To afford to play it. They’re trying to teach golf to people who will never be able to really play it. They’re trying too hard. Because of the expense of playing, and the land needed, golf is never going to be basketball, where all you need is a court.”
So regardless of golf being a sport and game that can teach discipline, self-control and awareness, Trump believes that only rich folks that can afford a country club membership should be allowed to partake.
