To Baltimore Ravens pass-rusher Elvis Dumervil, the NFL sack record and a trip to the Super Bowl go hand-in-hand.
The Ravens defensive end will enter up coming season just 10 sacks shy of 100 for his career, hunting for 113 to be his mark at the end of this season.
Dumervil wants to break Michael Strahan’s single-season sack record, while leading Baltimore to the promise land.
“If I can hit that number, that’ll mean we’ll be in the Super Bowl for sure,” Dumervil said during minicamp last month, according to The Baltimore Sun. “You try to win games, you try to win championships. To me, there’s nothing more important, because you can have the stats and accolades, but if you’re sitting home, it really doesn’t do any justice.”
Dumervil tied a career-high last season with 17 sacks, breaking the single-team franchise record previously held by Peter Boulware. Only Justin Houston (22) and J.J. Watt (20.5) had more.
