Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that New York Giants star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul would show up before Week 1’s game if the team agreed to guarantee his salary.
There has been talk that JPP could be headed for the NFI list if he were to sign his franchise tender. Doing so would cost Pierre-Paul for the first six weeks of the season and the Giants could withhold his salary during this time.
ESPN’s Ed Werder reported yesterday that Pierre-Paul won’t sign his franchise tender until he can pass a physical that would prevent the team from placing him on the non-football injury list.
The Giants wound up using their franchise tag on Pierre-Paul back in early March, which will pay him a fully guaranteed salary of $14.813 million for the 2015 season.
