Kendrick Perkins and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to terms on a one-year deal at the veteran minimum, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.

Perk obviously wasn’t brought in to give Pelicans big minutes, but rather to serve as a mentor and body-guard of such, to star forward, Anthony Davis.

The Pelicans see a role for Perkins serving as a mentor to Anthony Davis, a source told ESPN.com’s Royce Young.

Last season, Perkins averaged 3.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.6 blocks over the course of 16.9 minutes per game.
